What is Special Events Liability?

  • Provides protection to event hosts against lawsuits arising out of single/multi-day functions with or without service of alcohol.
  • All events with live entertainment or sports MUST be submitted on this form.
  • Please note, we are unable to provide you with a quote more than 120 days in advance of the event.

**NEW** Cannabis Event Liability

  • PAL’s Cannabis Event Liability is the first of its kind in the Special Events world. Cannabis Event coverage is now available for clients who may have a Cannabis exposure at their event, with or without knowing that the actual Cannabis exposure exists.
  • The legalization of Cannabis across Canada, has posed a new element of risk for various event organizers, as many Canadians may be “lighting up” on the event premises. Anything from family gatherings and small reception style events to an outdoor music festival with a designated smoking area, the Cannabis usage will most likely exist.
  • PAL’s Cannabis Event Liability, has been designed to clearly protect the Named Insured’s negligence when there is Cannabis consumed on the event premises via an event attendee who consumes their own (legally obtained Cannabis) on the event premises or a third party supplier.
  • Please note that coverage is NOT intended for the event organizer/host to supply Cannabis to their event.
  • Examples of Coverage areas are as follows:
    • Reception Style events where an attendee may bring their own Cannabis and consume outdoors, on the event premises.
    • Designated/Licensed Cannabis areas, located outdoors at various events, such as: Concerts, Festivals, Fairs,
    • A Third-Party Vendor, who may be at the insureds events serving, selling or sampling their Cannabis product to the event attendees. (Third Party Vendor to carry a minimum $2mill liability for their operations along with Product Liability)
    • Any event where invited attendees may walk outdoors, consume their own Cannabis and allowed to re-enter the event itself.
  • Common exclusions are as follows, but not limited too: Event host/Organizer supplying any form of cannabis, damages as a result of smoking Cannabis indoors, Minors consuming or handling any form of Cannabis or Alcohol, Third Party Vendors are excluded and required to carry their own insurance coverage.

NEW! Sports Liability

  • Sports Liability includes general liability coverage for the host of the sporting event and coverage for injury to participants for sporting activities that qualify.
  • This coverage protects against lawsuits brought on by a third party alleging that a bodily injury or property damage has been sustained by either an athletic participant or spectator for which the host individual or organization is liable (some restrictions apply).
  • Intended for hosts of sporting events or activities, individuals or groups running organized sports activities, Sports Clubs, leagues and teams, Sports Associations, sports camps and clinics.

  • General Liability Coverage including Injury to Participants for sports-related activities that qualify
  • Host Liquor Liability
  • Tenants Legal Liability Limit
  • Daily, weekly, monthly, annual, seasonal and tournament coverage available

What’s the coverage?

  • We offer limits of liability from $1,000,000 to $5,000,000 with deductibles from $1,000.
  • Coverage included: Commercial General Liability, including Third Party Property Damage/Bodily Injury, Medical Payment ($2,500pp/$25,000 max), Non-Owned Auto, Food and Beverage Product Coverage, Cross Liability, Employees/Volunteers as Additional Insured and Tenant's Legal Liability ($500,000+)

Optional Coverages:

  • Host Liquor Liability - up to $5,000,000 limit available.
  • Property Extension - Coverage for items you may own, rent or are in your custody, care or control, ie Audio/Visual equipment, tables and chairs, projector screens, etc.

PLEASE REVIEW YOUR RENTAL AGREEMENT OR CONTRACT WITH THE VENUE PRIOR TO SUBMITTING YOUR SUBMISSION AS ANY CHANGES AFTER POLICY ISSUANCE WILL BE SUBJECT TO A $25 FEE AND / OR ADDITIONAL PREMIUM.

Who is this designed for?

  • Hosts of single/multi day events who are seeking coverage (other than 1 day reception style event - ALL events with live entertainment or sports MUST be submitted on this form.) 
  • Hosts of single/multi day events where NO alcohol will be served (however, liquor extensions are available.)
  • Examples of events: Meetings, family reunions, music festivals, concerts, ball tournaments, street parties, conventions, film shoots, hockey tournaments, theatrical performances, youth dances, film festivals, camps, rodeos, craft shows and more..
